Hi everyone, I wanted to share my success story with setting up motion-activated lights in my living room using Vera 3 and Fibaro 3-in-1 sensor. Like many of you, I’ve struggled with automation in the past, but I’m thrilled to finally get it working smoothly!
For the past year, I’ve been trying to create a scene where the lights turn on at 7 PM if motion is detected. I’ve read countless forum posts and spent hours tweaking settings, but always ended up frustrated. The main issue was that the lights would come on too brightly even for minor movements, and I couldn’t figure out how to limit it to after sunset.
After some trial and error, here’s what worked for me:
- Scheduled Trigger: I set up a daily trigger that activates at 7 PM. This ensures the motion sensor only works during evening hours.
- Motion Detection: The Fibaro sensor detects motion, but I added a condition to only trigger if the lights are off. This prevents unnecessary brightness during active use.
- Brightness Control: Instead of full brightness, I programmed a gradual increase to 50% for subtle illumination.
- Auto-Reset: The sensor automatically disarms after 30 minutes of inactivity to prevent false triggers.
This setup has been rock solid for the past week! No more bright lights startling me at night, and the system works seamlessly with my Kodi media center. I’m so relieved to finally have this automation working as intended.
If anyone has questions or needs help with similar setups, feel free to reach out. I’d be happy to share more details or troubleshoot together. Happy automating! ![]()
