I’ve been using the Vera 3 as my smart home controller for quite some time now, and it’s been a fantastic experience. However, I’m starting to push its limits and wanted to share my journey and seek some advice from the community.
Currently, I’m running Vera 3 with UI7 (version 1.7.569) and have integrated a variety of devices—155 in total, including 5 cameras. These are spread across 16 rooms and managed through 46 scenes. The setup is enhanced with 19 plugins, each adding unique functionality to my smart home ecosystem.
While everything works smoothly most of the time, I’ve noticed some performance hiccups. The Vera 3 occasionally restarts, sometimes multiple times a day, which can be a bit disruptive. I’ve also experienced instances where the system locks up, requiring a hard reset. My system health checks show memory usage hovering around 173%, which might be contributing to these issues.
I’m curious to know if others have encountered similar performance challenges with Vera 3 and how they’ve resolved them. Is there a recommended plugin limit or device threshold to ensure optimal performance? Would upgrading to Vera 4 or integrating my old Vera 2 as a secondary controller be viable solutions?
I’m also exploring the possibility of migrating some functionalities to Homey, as mentioned by another user, to alleviate the load on Vera 3. It would be great to hear if anyone has successfully transitioned from HC2 to Homey without reconfiguring everything from scratch.
Thank you in advance for your insights and suggestions. It’s wonderful to be part of such a supportive community!
