After several years of reliable service, my Vera 3 suddenly went offline from my network. Restarting it brought it back to life, but it frequently disconnects, making it hard to troubleshoot. The network light is flashing rapidly, and I can’t access its IP address via ICMP, SSH, or HTML. I changed the target IP for the MiLight plugin recently, but I doubt that’s the cause since it worked for an hour afterward. Interestingly, Vera still runs scenes and PLEG without network issues, which is a relief.
I’m considering my options: waiting for the Vera Plus to be available in Australia or getting another controller to take over the master role. I’m hesitant to do a factory reset without being sure it will fix the problem, especially since I can’t remember the last time I backed up my settings.
In the meantime, I’ve been exploring other smart home devices. For example, I recently set up a Shelly Dimmer 2, which works great for my LED lights. However, I noticed a slight delay when using the momentary switch, which I fixed by adjusting the debounce time. This experience taught me the importance of tweaking settings to optimize performance.
I’m also looking forward to integrating more devices into my system, but I’d love to hear your thoughts on the best way to handle Vera’s network issues. Any suggestions or bright ideas would be greatly appreciated!
