Vera Integration and Zigbee Reconnection Tips

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent experiences with integrating Vera into my smart home setup. I’ve been using Vera to control my ceiling fans via INSTEON devices, and while the setup was initially successful, I ran into a few bumps along the way. I thought I’d document my journey and hopefully help others who might be encountering similar issues. :dove:

First off, I successfully wired a FanLinc device to one of my ceiling fans. However, getting it to show up in Vera’s device list was a bit of a puzzle. I had the PLM device attached and followed the instructions to press the “Set” button on the FanLinc, but nothing showed up. After some research, I realized that while Vera does support INSTEON devices out of the box, sometimes a little extra tweaking is needed. I came across mentions of Altsteon, but it seemed outdated, so I decided to stick with Vera’s built-in options. Turns out, using Vera’s “Add Insteon Devices” feature worked after a few retries and ensuring the device was in pairing mode. Whew! :tada:

Now, moving on to something that’s been a bit of a thorn in my side: zigbee devices and power outages. I recently had a storm that caused a power outage, and when the power came back on, all my zigbee bulbs needed to be readded to the hub. This was a first for me, as I’ve never had this issue with other hubs I’ve used. It’s a bit frustrating to have to re-pair everything, especially when I was relying on these bulbs for my smart lighting setup. I’ve heard there have been updates on the zigbee side of the Hubitat hub, so I’m hoping this is a temporary issue and not something that will happen every time there’s a storm. Fingers crossed! :cloud_with_lightning:

On a lighter note, I’ve been absolutely blown away by the Glide Music Wall Panels. They’re not just functional—they’re a work of art! The way they use negative space is ingenious, and I love how you can see shapes in the empty spaces. It’s a unique design that really makes a statement in my living room. Plus, the fact that they’re Govee products adds an extra layer of reliability and style. If you haven’t checked them out yet, I highly recommend giving them a look! :notes::sparkles:

I’d love to hear from others who’ve had similar experiences or have tips on maintaining zigbee connections during power outages. Also, if anyone has creative ways to integrate smart lighting and music, I’m all ears! Let’s keep the conversation flowing. :rocket:
