Hi everyone, I wanted to share an idea that could really streamline the way we manage our smart devices and energy usage. Have you ever noticed how energy sockets like smart plugs or inline meters often show up as separate entries in your device list? It can get pretty cluttered, especially if you have multiple devices connected. Wouldn’t it be amazing if these energy sockets could be seamlessly integrated into the devices they’re monitoring? Here’s what I’m thinking: - Cleaner Device Overview: Imagine a device list where every smart plug or meter is automatically tied to the device it’s monitoring. No more clutter! - Insightful Energy Tracking: Energy usage data would still be visible, but it would be directly linked to the device, making it easier to monitor and analyze. - Proper Switching Behavior: Instead of just cutting the power, you could control the device through its native methods, like IR or API commands. How Could This Work? - Users could mark an energy socket as part of a specific device. - In the app, only the device would appear in the main view, with optional live energy data. - The energy socket would still be visible in the Energy tab for accurate tracking. - Flows could access the energy socket behind the scenes without cluttering the interface. I’d love to hear if others are interested in this idea or if the Homey team might consider implementing something like it! It could make managing our smart homes so much simpler and more intuitive. Let me know your thoughts!
