W100 & W600 working together!

This is a short review of the pairing between the Aqara W100 and W600.

I’m currently using the Smart Radiator Thermostat W600 in Zigbee mode. Once connected to my Aqara Hub M3, it appears as a Matter accessory, which gives me full compatibility with HomeKit, Homey Pro and Home Assistant.

I applied the same setup to the W100. Both devices run on Zigbee and are linked to the Aqara Hub M3, which in my experience is the most reliable configuration available.

Using Zigbee inside the Aqara ecosystem unlocks a few useful features. One of the most interesting is the ability to link the W600 (radiator head) with the W100 (wall thermostat).

The process is straightforward: configure the W600 first, then move to the W100. During setup, if both devices are assigned to the same room, the app automatically suggests linking them. You simply choose the W600 from the list.

Once paired, the three buttons on the W100 become dedicated to controlling the W600. The centre button validates the target temperature.
The temperature update on the W600 is not instant on my side; it usually takes two or three seconds, but it does work consistently.

This pairing is genuinely useful. The temperature measured by the W600 is often inaccurate because it sits very close to the heat source. The W100 solves this problem perfectly, as you can place it anywhere in the room to get a realistic ambient temperature.

There is one limitation worth mentioning:
The W600 currently cannot be linked to a window or door sensor if that sensor is Matter-only. I own a T2 Matter sensor, and it cannot trigger the “stop heating when window is open” feature.

From what I observe, this automation works only with Zigbee sensors, not Matter ones. I have not found a workaround, and Aqara does not provide any official documentation clarifying this point.

In other words, all my P2 Matter sensors are ignored for this function.

Despite this limitation, the W100 + W600 pairing works very well overall and provides a noticeably more accurate room-temperature control. The W100 is, in my opinion, an excellent companion device for the W600.

If you explore the setup further, evaluating how Aqara evolves its Matter support will be an interesting continuation.

Hope this Helps
