W200 Feature request: Wake to screensaver when far away

I came from a Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd Gen). One of my favorite features that I’m missing now its “FarSight” function, which showed a configurable data point in large font when it detected motion far away, and would then switch to the regular UI if it detected motion closer to the thermostat. I chose current temp for my FarSight data display.

With the W200, I see that I can configure the screensaver to display the current environment – but seeing the screensaver requires moving close enough to thermostat to wake it up and then walking away. That’s not useful for at-a-glance viewing. I realize there’s an always-on option, but that seems like overkill to me.

I don’t know the range of the W200’s proximity detector, but I think it would make much more sense to allow the thermostat to “wake to screensaver” when it detects motion farther away, BEFORE then switching to the main UI when you get closer. That way if I walk past the thermostat while too far away to actually interact with it but still close enough to read large numbers off its display, I can glance over there to the current temperature (or whatever I choose to see on screensaver). And then if I get close enough to interact with it, I’ll see the main UI.

Got it, good idea. We’ll improve this in future releases.

Sounds like a great idea… looking forward to it being implemented in a future update. Thank you.
