W200 Screen Control

Got my first W200 and I’m looking at replacing the rest of my Ecobees. The “screensaver” designs are pretty but somewhat lackluster for a home automation nerd like me. What would be amazing is if we could push our own images to the screen. Not only the time, temperature, humidity, and weather but other notifications from Home Assistant. I know there is plans for integrating images from the Aqara doorbell camera upon ring, but it would be even better if we had control from any Home Assistant integrated camera.

That’s a great idea regarding the screensaver. Do you have any specific information you’d like to highlight? We can quickly create a screensaver that displays a wide range of content first.

It’s not specific, but rather open-ended. Having an API that would allow pushing images or specific information from Home Assistant or other software is what I’d like. For example, I have a weather station setup for Home Assistant. Being able to push the temperature, humidity, rainfall, etc., from my house, is much more useful than numbers that were pulled from the airport 15 miles away.

Also one that has outside weather or one with time, with some “widgets” like inside temp, sensor temp, etc. allow the user to customize their screensaver or build one (like you can do with a swipe to the side).

Also, the “Sleep Mode” should be optional and override the “Always-On Standby” for the Screensaver. I want my thermostats displaying something (preferably with information, like above), so I have “Always-On Standby” turned on in the “Screensaver” settings, but I want the option for “Sleep Mode” to override it in bedrooms. Right now, “Sleep Mode” does nothing if you have “Always-On Standby” turned on.

Unless I misunderstood you, I think you can use a scene or automation to turn off the screen that you run when you want the screen off at night.

This still works in always-on mode, but if you walk in front of it, the screen will turn back on and won’t turn back off unless you run the scene/automation again.

So, not perfect…let’s call it a partial workaround. :+1:
