Wear OS Button Configuration Success

Hey everyone! I wanted to share my success in setting up a custom Wear OS button to control my Sony Bravia TV. It’s been a hassle-free experience, and I thought I’d walk through my journey in case anyone else is looking to do something similar.First, I had this recurring issue where my TV would forget its HDMI input after being powered on via my nVidia Shield Remote. It was frustrating to dig out the TV remote every time to switch back to HDMI4. I knew Home Assistant could help, but I wanted a more seamless solution—something right on my wrist. After some research, I discovered that integrating Wear OS with Home Assistant was the way to go. The idea was to create a button on my watch that sends a command to Home Assistant, which in turn switches the TV to HDMI4. Here’s how I did it:1. Integration Setup: I made sure my Sony Bravia TV was properly integrated into Home Assistant. This involved adding the TV as a device and ensuring it was discoverable on my network.2. Wear OS Configuration: I used the Wear OS app to create a custom button. This was straightforward—just a matter of selecting the button location and assigning it a function.3. Home Assistant Automation: The key part was setting up an automation in Home Assistant. I created a new automation that triggers when the Wear OS button is pressed. The automation sends a command to the TV to switch to HDMI4.4. Testing: After setting everything up, I tested it a few times to make sure it worked seamlessly. Pressing the button on my watch now instantly switches the TV input without any hiccups. This setup has been a game-changer for me. It’s one less remote I need to fumble with, and it adds a nice touch of convenience to my smart home setup. If anyone has questions about setting this up or needs help troubleshooting, feel free to reach out! I’d be happy to share more details or walk through the steps again.
