Hey everyone! I wanted to share two exciting projects I’ve been working on recently. First, I’ve been experimenting with my Hue bulb to act as a weather indicator. It’s such a cool way to start the day without checking the app! I set it up to change colors based on the temperature difference from the previous day—bluer for colder and warmer for, well, warmer. It’s been a fun little automation that adds a personal touch to my morning routine. Here’s how I did it:
- Setup: I used the
yweathersensor to track daily temperature highs. The automation runs at 23:00 to calculate the difference between today and tomorrow’s high. - Color Logic: The bulb’s color temperature adjusts based on the weather difference. If it’s colder, it gets bluer; if warmer, it shifts to orange. Simple but effective!
I’d love to hear if anyone has similar setups or any tweaks they’d suggest!
On another note, I’ve also been diving into productivity with a DIY Pomodoro timer. Using a chair occupancy sensor, I created an automation that gently reminds me to take breaks. It’s been a game-changer for staying focused during long work sessions. Check out my detailed setup here if you’re interested!
It’s amazing how these little automations can enhance daily life. I’d love to hear about your favorite smart home projects or any challenges you’ve overcome!
