Hi everyone, I wanted to share my recent weekend project where I successfully integrated multiple smart home devices from different brands. It was a fun challenge and I learned a lot along the way!
I’ve been using Govee LED lights for a while now and they’ve been a great addition to my setup. This weekend, I decided to expand my system by adding a Wyze Cam Pan and a Zemismart smart switch. The goal was to create a seamless system where I could control lights, monitor my home, and manage energy usage all from one interface.
One thing I struggled with initially was getting the Wyze Cam to stop recording while still being live. After some research, I figured out how to disable motion detection while keeping sound detection active. It’s now set up perfectly for my needs!
For the Zemismart switch, I was impressed by how easy it was to integrate with Zigbee2MQTT. The ability to customize labels and colors made it feel like a perfect fit for my setup. I even set it up to trigger specific scenes in Home Assistant, which has been a huge time saver.
I also took the opportunity to tidy up my MQTT configurations. I realized that having a failsafe system is crucial, especially after experiencing some network instability issues in the past. Setting up a secondary MQTT broker and ensuring all devices could connect to it gave me peace of mind.
This project reminded me how rewarding it is to experiment and integrate different smart home devices. It’s amazing how these devices can work together to create a truly connected home. If anyone has tips or tricks for integrating multiple brands, I’d love to hear them!
Happy smart home tinkering everyone! ![]()
