Weekly False Alarm with Heiman Z-Wave Smoke Detector

I recently encountered an intriguing issue with one of my Heiman Z-Wave smoke detectors. Over the past month, it has been triggering a false alarm every week at almost the same time. This is quite puzzling as there are no unusual activities in the room, and a camera monitoring the area confirms nothing out of the ordinary. The battery was checked and even replaced, yet the problem persists. Out of six sensors, only this one is malfunctioning, which adds to the mystery.

The alarm usually goes off in the middle of the night, lasting a few minutes before stopping. However, the system in Homey continues to show the alarm, which is inconvenient. I wish there was a way to cancel the alarm through the Homey app, but currently, it only works by pressing the sensor’s button when it’s actively alarming. This feature isn’t helpful when the alarm is silent.

I’m curious if anyone else has experienced similar issues or has insights into why this might be happening. Additionally, I’m on the lookout for alternative sensors that can integrate seamlessly with Homey, offering more control and real-time data. If anyone has recommendations or solutions, I’d greatly appreciate hearing from you. Let’s explore this together and find a reliable workaround or upgrade option.
