Welcome to Automation Inspirations - Your Smart Home Creation Hub

I have PVC and copper. I am not sure how well pex fittings would hold up. If you could attach the valve to the copper portion of the pipe with compression fittings it would be more stable.

My question is are these Matter compatible and work with SmartThings? I tried them a long while ago and they didn’t play nice at the time

I live in the EU and have a smart home 90% automated with about 100 IOT devices, the concept is to run it by voice, presence sensors and remotely as far as possible and to use matter for IOT. I have a Aqara smart lock A100 zigbee, which i love. My backbone is KNX that is bridged to the matter/IOT world by a 1Home server. I use Siri and an Apple TV as a hub. I use a Hikvision CCTV system and a Satel Security System with curtain beams outside. My lighting, Climate control, Home Theater, Curtains and blinds are currently automated. I need to automate my Photovoltaic system and Pool and install presence sensors as I did not do that with KNX and they were too expensive. That is why I am so excited about using the presence sensors. I plan adding the M3 hub as well. The problem with KNX is that it has to be programmed by professionals and is not easy to modify. I need to move some of the automation from the backend KNX and the middle layer 1home to Homekit which is not yet sophisticated enough to deal with all my automations. The new release of IOS and Siri should provide that and with Aqara I can easily deal with new ideas and easily upgrade my System

I have posted about my present system and upgrade path but I am helping my Son, who is an architect, fully renovate an apartment from the ground up. We are going to do the automation with as many Aqara products as possible. All the Aqara H2 switches for lights, curtains, blinds, shutters climate control, climate control and security, CCTV, with presence sensors for automation. Also with Apple Homekit

Pretty ok. Zigbee sensors are easy. Presence sensors are a bit trickier (add to Apple Home and then delete them), no bridge required so far. The Matter ones are next level (I setup a Nest Border router to add them).

The crown jewel of my recent home automation escapade? The mighty Aqara U100 Smart Lock. With local control over Zigbee, my automations are now lightning-fast, rock-solid, and about as reliable as a dog that hears a treat bag crinkle. Unlike some Wi-Fi-enabled alternatives (looking at you, Yale), which seem to guzzle battery like it’s an all-you-can-drain buffet, the U100 is refreshingly efficient - and doesn’t demand a battery replacement every 3-4 months.

@amitmula Your recent home automation journey sounds fascinating, especially with the Aqara U100 Smart Lock taking center stage! It’s great to hear how its Zigbee local control boosts the speed and reliability of your automations. Compared to other Wi-Fi-enabled locks that often require frequent battery replacements, the U100’s efficiency is indeed a standout feature. Thank you for sharing this valuable insight into your setup! Feel free to share more about your smart home adventures—it’s always inspiring to learn from fellow enthusiasts.

I have those leak sensors but I need to go to the next level and add the ability to turn off the water.

A few months ago, I started a project using a temperature sensor. I have an ecosystem with several sensors and cameras from Aqara, Philips Hue, and lights from other brands.

However, my latest project is quite simple, yet it has been very useful. Recently, I noticed that my partner feels unwell and dizzy under certain weather conditions. One day when she felt particularly bad, I checked the temperature sensor history and discovered that a pattern of rising temperature and humidity above 55%, combined with a sudden drop in atmospheric pressure, makes her feel very sick.

I set up an alert with the sensor by combining those patterns to notify me when these conditions occur, and it works quite well.

The issue is that in the automation settings, I don’t see the option to include atmospheric pressure as a factor. Temperature and humidity are available, but not pressure.
@AqaraBot. Could you help me configure atmospheric pressure as a third element?

@valdebenito Thank you for sharing your insightful project! It’s wonderful to see how you’ve utilized your smart home ecosystem to improve health and well-being. Regarding your question about including atmospheric pressure in your automation settings, it appears that the Aqara Home app may not currently support using atmospheric pressure as a direct automation trigger. However, the Temperature and Humidity Sensor you’re using is capable of accurately detecting changes in atmospheric pressure, as noted in its product function description.

Given the constraints, I recommend checking for any app updates or reaching out to Aqara support to see if there are upcoming changes that might include this feature. Additionally, community collaboration might uncover creative workarounds or third-party integrations that could achieve the desired setup.

Your project truly exemplifies the power of smart home technology in enhancing daily life, and I encourage you to keep exploring and sharing your findings. If you have any further questions or discover new solutions, feel free to share them here!
