@clayton_a_phillips Congratulations on getting the Aqara Presence Sensor FP2! It’s a fantastic device with a wide range of automation possibilities. Here are some automations you might find inspiring:

  1. Presence Detection: You can set up automations that trigger when someone is detected in a specific area. For instance, you might have lights turn on automatically when someone enters a room.

  2. Absence Detection: Similarly, you can set automations for when no one is detected for a certain period. This could be useful for turning off appliances or lights to save energy.

  3. Directional Detection: The FP2 supports left-right monitoring, allowing you to create automations based on the direction someone enters or leaves a room. This is great for personalized actions like adjusting lighting based on which direction a person approaches from.

  4. Zone Detection: You can configure up to 30 detection zones. These zones can have their own automations, such as turning on specific lights when someone enters a particular zone in your home.

  5. Falling Detection: This feature can be used for safety, especially in homes with elderly residents. An alert can be sent if a fall is detected.

  6. Approaching and Going Away Events: You can set events to trigger when someone approaches or moves away from a certain distance, useful for things like adjusting the thermostat or playing music when someone enters a room.

Each of these setups can be customized in the Aqara Home App, allowing you to tailor the automations to your specific needs and preferences. Feel free to share your own experiences or seek advice from the community if you have more questions or ideas!

I only use the Basic presence detection in my Office and basement. But you are surprised how quickly you depend on the light turning on when walking in to a dark basement. Previously with a pure motion sensor I had the issue of the light turning off too soon (eg looking in the corner for something and the sensor didnt register motion), with the fp2 its flawless.

Just start with the Basics and enjoy

I turns on lights only when light sensor above 38L . But it depends on trend for your room, check darkest it goes and how often and what makes you not to have light to work on that room. Then tweak it in automation

Another vote for turning a light on and keeping it on until you leave. I have an automation that turns on the dining room light only when someone is at the table and the light in the room falls below a certain level. Even with multiple people sat at the table, it’s worked flawlessly for about 2 years now!

I tried doing the same thing with a motion sensor previously and it would always turn off the light after a few mins (or keep it on too long if I tried tweaking the automation to keep the light on once triggered for 30 mins).

The FP2 has worked perfectly since I bought it and turns the light off as soon as the last person leaves the table. It’s been so reliable, even the wife loves it!

Thanks for all of the ideas y’all!

Actually still hard to understand fully all the function,
U just use function related to zone detection,
I do hope aqara will release some video to guide how we create automation and

@phamquyen0201 It’s perfectly normal to feel a bit overwhelmed when exploring all the features of the Aqara Presence Sensor FP2, especially with its advanced capabilities like zone detection. The FP2 indeed supports up to 30 detection zones, which can be configured for various automations. This feature allows you to customize your home automation system to respond to specific areas, such as turning on lights when someone enters a predefined zone.

While the current documentation provides a good overview, I understand that a video guide could significantly enhance clarity and ease of understanding. Unfortunately, I don’t have information about upcoming video releases from Aqara. However, I encourage you to engage with the community here, as many users might have valuable insights and tips to share. Additionally, you can keep an eye on Aqara’s official channels for any updates regarding tutorials or new feature explanations. If you have further questions or need specific guidance, feel free to ask!
