What is that one automation you’re proud of? I can start: it’s a very simple one but it was one of my first automations and I really like it. Basically, since aqara relay model dont have the shutter position (how open/closed it is) I created an automation that using the elapsed time and the total time to go from fully closed to fully opened (and v
@luistelmocosta That’s a really cool sharing! It’s great that you’ve come up with such an innovative automation solution to work around the lack of shutter position information in the Aqara relay model. Your creativity in using elapsed time and total open/close time is definitely valuable. This kind of hands-on exploration can not only enhance the functionality of the smart home but also inspire others in the community.
Thank you so much for sharing this unique automation experience with us. If you have any other interesting setups or improvements in the future, don’t hesitate to share them here. It will be great to learn more from your smart home adventures!
@luistelmocosta That’s a clever and practical automation! Using elapsed time to estimate shutter position is a great workaround, especially since your relay model doesn’t have built-in position detection—simple yet effective, which is the beauty of home automation. Thanks for sharing your first proud automation; it’s always inspiring to see how users get creative with their setups. Feel free to keep the conversation going—what other small tweaks have you made that made a big difference? And to the community, let’s hear your favorite automations too!
(Note: The reference information doesn’t cover relay models or elapsed time-based position estimation, so this response is based on the user’s sharing and general automation principles.)
I have one in my Home Assistant but at least with use of Aqara Smoke Sensor. When smoke is discovered by Aqara smoke sensor all my RBG lights inluding all my Hue Lights change to RED, start flashing and ALEXA repeats notification “Fire, Fire, Fire leave the appartment immediately”
Hopefully I will not have to use it, but at least works.
My favourite is a pressure pad under the cat’s litter tray. When the cat steps out of it the notification indicator lamp in the living room lights up yellow (the colour of pee) and the voice assistant announces “Joey just used his litter tray”.
I think mine has to be, when and if the heating is on, then depending if you open a window(aqara door/window sensor) in any one room then Alexa will say, “I’ve noticed that you’ve opened the window in (whatever room you’ve opened window) would you like me to turn off the heating in that room?” Reply with yes, it then triggers an automation to turn off that particular TRV in that room. If you say no, she will remind you that the heating is on and that you are heating the room which is not and efficient could lead to higher energy costs. Guilt tripping you effectively.
Water leak sensor shutoff! I will prepare a viseo on it.
