What Is Your Most Useful Aqara Automation That You Can't Live Without?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been gradually expanding my smart home setup and I’m curious to hear what automations other Aqara users rely on every day.

For me, the biggest reason to invest in a smart home isn’t just remote control—it’s automation that works in the background without needing any interaction.

Some ideas:

• Motion sensors turning lights on and off automatically
• Presence detection for room-based lighting
• Door and window sensors for security alerts
• Smart locks triggering “Arrive Home” scenes
• Temperature sensors controlling fans or heating
• Night-time automations for hallways and bathrooms

I’m especially interested in automations that save energy, improve security, or simply make daily life more convenient.

What Aqara devices are you using, and what is your favorite automation? Feel free to share screenshots, device lists, or setup details.

The most useful automations in my home? Every one that automates the lights :grin: Me and my wife practically don’t use the switches unless we need the big light (for example when I’m soldering). But apart from those situations, we can just walk around the house and the light will follow us. All thanks to FP2, FP300, and smart light switches (H1), LED Strips T1 and T2 GU10 bulbs.

I can share some of the automations later, for example I have 4 automations in the bathroom:

  • turn on the LED Strips when presence is detected,
  • increase brightness to 100% of the LED Strips when presence lasts above 5min,
  • when absence is detected, dim the LEDs to 10%,
  • when absence lasts above 1min, turn off the LEDs.

As for our home security, I have two automations (made possible by using Aqara door and window sensor):

  • when main door is opened, the G3 camera turns to the hallway
  • when someone closes the door, lock the U200

Mine is easy and is at my bathroom with HomePod. Every morning I go to the bathroom, light turns on and music starts from the HomePod :x2fozabcpx9xrbxmdpseb3_61:

I have a sunset automation setup that closes my curtains when the sun goes down. I love that one or my movie time automation that closes the living room curtains and turns on my T1 light strip around my TV.

My favorite automation is motion-activated hallway lighting at night. The lights turn on at a low brightness when motion is detected and switch off automatically after a few minutes. It’s simple, saves energy, and makes late-night trips around the house much more convenient.

Hello.
Honestly, all the automations in my home are invaluable and bring daily benefits (lighting, humidity, temperature…, more than 12 areas). I would compare your question, @sscareuk1, to asking, “Which of my children do I love more?” The answer is: I love all my children equally very much. :smiling_face:

I think that’s often the sign of a well-designed smart home—it’s hard to pick just one favorite automation because they all work together to make daily life easier. Lighting, temperature, humidity control, and other automations may seem small individually, but collectively they save time, improve comfort, and reduce the number of things you have to think about every day.

Out of curiosity, which automation do you think would be the hardest to live without if it suddenly stopped working?
