I’ve been using Aqara products and really like the direction the company has taken with smart-home devices, especially the sensors, locks, hubs, and Matter/HomeKit integration.
It got me thinking: What product category should Aqara invest in next?
If you could choose one major product for Aqara to develop, what would it be?
A few ideas I’ve been thinking about:
Smart electrical panel / energy monitoring — whole-home energy monitoring, individual circuit monitoring, solar production, battery storage, and load management.
Smart EV charger — especially one that could integrate with Aqara automation, solar, time-of-use electricity rates, and home batteries.
More advanced smart locks — especially locks with better mechanical reliability, longer battery life, and multiple unlocking options.
HVAC/heat-pump controls — a truly intelligent thermostat system that works with Aqara sensors throughout the house.
Smart electrical switches/outlets with energy monitoring — perhaps with better support for high-load appliances.
Home battery/energy management — something that could coordinate solar, batteries, EV charging, and household loads.
Aqara security system — cameras, sensors, alarms, and monitoring integrated into one ecosystem without requiring multiple hubs.
Personally, I think energy management could be a huge opportunity. With solar, batteries, EVs, and time-of-use electricity rates becoming more common, a smart-home company could do much more than simply turn lights on and off.

@yty9b92v4z Energy management is exactly where I’d love to see Aqara go next—and your “smart electrical panel / whole-home monitoring” idea is the one “major product” that could unlock a lot of new use cases.
My vote: Whole-home energy + load management (smart panel / circuit-level monitoring)
Aqara already has the core building blocks to make this compelling:
- A strong hub + ecosystem approach (Zigbee hub + Matter bridge) that can expose devices into Apple Home / Google / Alexa, etc.
- An app model built around Scenes and Automations, which is basically what you need for energy-aware control (shed loads, shift usage to off-peak, “if solar surplus then run…” style logic).
If Aqara built a smart electrical panel (or a modular DIN-rail lineup) that provided:
- per-circuit consumption
- whole-home consumption + alerts
- optional CT clamps / submeter modules
- “load shedding” controls tied into automations
…that would be a legitimate “platform expansion,” not just another accessory.
Runner-up: Deeper in-wall control + a better “single-pane-of-glass” UI
The Panel Hub S1 Plus EU points in a direction I really like: a wall-mounted controller that’s also a hub and can bridge to Matter ecosystems, plus editable dashboards/cards and camera streaming for “security + control in one place.” If Aqara leaned harder into this category—especially with more energy/utility widgets and monitoring cards—it would complement your energy vision nicely.

Curious: are you thinking “smart panel” as monitoring only (CTs + insights), or monitoring + control (relay/contactors for load shedding)?

For me, whole-home energy monitoring and energy management would be the most exciting next step.
Aqara already knows what is happening around the home through presence sensors, temperature sensors, contact sensors, smart plugs, etc. The missing piece is really understanding what the house is consuming and being able to act on it.
I’d love to see something like an Aqara DIN-rail / electrical-panel system that could:
- Monitor individual circuits and total home consumption
- Track solar production and grid import/export
- Monitor high-load appliances
- Trigger automations based on real-time consumption
- Work locally with Home Assistant/Matter
- Eventually coordinate EV charging, batteries and dynamic electricity tariffs
Imagine combining that with presence sensing: nobody home → reduce unnecessary loads; electricity is cheap → run the dishwasher/charge the EV; solar surplus → automatically use it instead of exporting it.
Smart homes are already very good at knowing who is home and what is happening. I’d love Aqara to help them understand where the energy is going too.
That would be a day-one purchase for me.
And please, if Aqara does it: local control and an open Home Assistant integration from day one! 
Aqara should develop next is a Matter‑over‑Thread in‑wall switch/dimmer family (single, double, triple‑rocker, plus a neutral‑optional version). This fills the biggest gap in their ecosystem and solves the #1 pain point for Home Assistant, Apple Home, and Matter users.
