What was your VERY FIRST Aqara device?

My first Aqara device was a U200 smart lock. Many others followed, but our U200 on the front door of our home remains the star of the show. It made an incredible difference in our daily lives: we no longer had to worry about forgetting our keys or a gust of wind slamming the door shut unexpectedly when we didn’t have them. That’s no longer a problem because we can open the door without calling a locksmith who charges more for their service than a U200 costs. Even the less tech-savvy members of my family love the U200. We could survive without many devices, but the U200 has become a key part of our home. It’s wonderful. And its battery lasts for many months without needing a recharge.
It’s great that your staircase or hallway light turns on when it detects your presence. But never being locked out because you forgot your keys is pure magic.
Thank you Aqara for this improvement in my daily home life and that of my family.

My very first Aqara device was Aqara 2K Security Camera Hub G3 in June 2022
Followed from an infinite series of other Aqara purchases… perfectly connected with my Home app (only few brand have the privilege to be connected with HomeApp!!!) became my first home Hub…. Still working fantastically and protecting the security of my house and my loved ones!

My very first was the curtain driver E1 which I ended up buying 5 more of as it make closing blinds a breeze! Loved that and then have continued to buy more and more

My first Aqara purchase was the original hub and B1 Curtain motors. This was back in 2019, before Aqara had any kind of presence in North America, so everything was sourced from AliExpress. The hub came with a plug adapter, thankfully, but trying to get it to speak anything but Chinese was a challenge. And, getting it to connect both to HomeKit and Home Assistant at the same time took some trial and error. But, the curtains have been reliably working ever since. My-First-Aqara

Blimey!

It started with the Xiaomi Mijis door contact and motion sensors back when I used and loved SmartThings.

Once Aqara came into the UK, I purchased far too many contact and motion sensors, which are still going strong today!

They’re linked to both my M3 Hub, Home Assistant and Apple Home. Some of the most reliable sensors I’ve ever had.

My first Aqara device was the U100! Total game changer to go from a standard lock to a smart lock. It was the first I’ve ever owned and opened my eyes to smart home automation. I love being able to use it with Homekit. Would highly recommend and watch as your Aqara collection grows from there.

It was the Aqara FP2.

I used to use a beta of a product called Hiome who never made it to market. Hiome opened my eyes to the possibilities of presence detection, but the FP2 took it to a whole new level for me. I now have them all over my house and they reliably turn on/off the lights I have in my home.

In the screen shot you can see that I have setup zones in my Kitchen/Diner which helps me be even more accurate with my lighting.

What’s even better is that it has past the spouse test as now, when we go to other people’s houses, they are disappointed that they have to turn on the lights by hand! How 20th century!

I’ve done different automations in different rooms, depending on the needs but, effectively, this device has given me the control I needed. My-First-Aqara

This then led to me having enough confidence to purchase a U200 on kickstarter, then G4 doorbell and now replacing all my external cameras with Aqara cameras because of the increased resolution and PoE.

I’ve also got water leak detectors in places where I don’t have a mains supply and have connected 2 to car seat pressure sensors so I know when someone is in a seat in the living room. also bought some light switches connected to Smart Lights.

My first AQARA device was the U200 smart lock and was only a couple of months ago. Got it so our school age daughter can let herself in without the need for a pin to be shared around the school or lose a key! Her thumb print and she is in and we get notified when she arrives home and she has locked the door behind her! My-First-Aqara

My first Aqara product was the T1S roller shade motor. I was looking for a long time for a good option for smart blinds and for me the best solution the Aqara motor. Now I’m down the rabbit hole with plug, sensors cameras, and I love it all.

For me it was the FP300. Despite having a smart home through Google Home I let lights on too long when I left a room.
Having the FP300 opened up possibilities without having to run wires.

Eventuall this catapulted me further into the Home Assistant eco ssytem.

Now I have 4. Each making sure the lights gets turned on when I enter and off (sometimes with a delay) when I leave.
I’ve also added a bunch of bulbs thanks to that good first experience.
