Winter Nights and Smart Home Solutions

The winter nights have been quite chilly here, with temperatures dropping below freezing, and I wanted to share my experiences with the community.

A few weeks ago, I noticed that my outdoor cameras were acting up during the colder nights. The live feed would either be fogged over or completely unresponsive, even though the weather was clear. I was a bit concerned, thinking it might be a hardware issue. However, after some research and reaching out to the community, I found that this was a known issue with the cameras in cold weather. The solution? Placing them in a slightly warmer environment or using a camera specifically designed for extreme temperatures.

I also wanted to share my experience with the Wyze Sense Keypad. I’ve been using it to control my security system, and I absolutely love how customizable it is. One feature I found particularly useful was the ability to keep the lights on when a specific setting is active. This has been a game-changer for me, as it provides a clear visual cue that the system is armed, especially during the darker winter months.

Another thing I’ve been experimenting with is optimizing my home automation system’s database. I’ve been using filters on my history and logbook to keep the database size manageable. It’s been a bit of trial and error, but having a cleaner database has definitely improved the system’s performance.

I’d love to hear from others who might have similar experiences or have tips on how they’ve optimized their systems for colder climates. Whether it’s camera placement, keypad customization, or database management, sharing these insights helps us all make the most out of our smart home setups.

Happy automating everyone! :star2:
