The cold weather has definitely put my smart home setup to the test! I wanted to share some of my experiences and tips for making the most out of your smart home during the winter months. 
Using Tado for Optimal Heating
I’ve been using my Tado thermostat to keep my home cozy, especially with the recent drop in temperatures. I was curious about disabling OpenTherm modulation to let my radiators run at a higher temperature during the morning. While I haven’t figured out how to completely disable it, I’ve found that adjusting the temperature settings manually gives me the warmth I need without too much hassle. If anyone has tips on fine-tuning this, I’d love to hear them!
Osram Lightify - Brightening Up the Days
Another thing I’ve been enjoying is my Osram Lightify bulbs. They’ve been a great addition to my home, especially during the darker winter days. I noticed that they update more frequently during the day, which is convenient. However, I’d love it if they could update even when I’m catching up on sleep—maybe a simple tweak in the app settings? Let me know if anyone has a workaround for this!
Smart Lighting Automation
I’ve also been experimenting with setting up my lights to turn on automatically when it gets dark outside. Using IFTTT, I’ve created a rule that activates my living room lights based on the sunset time. It’s been a game-changer for coming home to a warm, well-lit space after a long day. Plus, it’s saved me from fumbling for switches in the dark!
