Wyze Cam 2 as a Standalone Camera in a Public Market

Hi everyone, I’m helping my partner set up a Wyze Cam 2 for their holiday market booth. Last year, we used it successfully as a visual deterrent without being connected to the local network. It didn’t record anything useful, but there was no theft, which was a relief.

This year, we want to take it a step further. I’m curious about how the Wyze Cam 2 can operate as a standalone device in this new environment. Specifically, I’d like to know if it needs to connect to the local wireless network to be functional. If it doesn’t, would it still be able to record video to an SD card? And if so, how would we download that content later?

Practically speaking, we’d like the camera to record video for 8-10 hours, especially during times of motion, which will likely be almost constant given the busy nature of the market.

Any tips or experiences you’ve had with setting up a Wyze Cam 2 in a similar situation would be greatly appreciated! I’m also open to hearing about any challenges others have faced and how they overcame them. Let’s make this setup as smooth and effective as possible!

Looking forward to your insights!
