Wyze Cam Integration with IFTTT: Motion Detection and Recording

Hi all, I’m excited to share my experience integrating my Wyze Cam with IFTTT to automate motion detection and recording. For those who might be looking to enhance their home security or just want to stay updated on what’s happening at home, this setup has been a game-changer for me!

I’ve been using Wyze Cam for a while now, and while it’s a great device on its own, I wanted to take it a step further. I’ve heard wonderful things about IFTTT and how it can automate tasks across different platforms. So, I decided to give it a try.

Here’s what I did:

  1. Setting Up IFTTT: I started by creating an IFTTT applet. The trigger was straightforward—I set it to activate when the Wyze Cam detects motion. IFTTT makes this pretty intuitive with its visual interface.
  2. Recording and Uploading: The action part was where I really got creative. I configured the applet to record a short video whenever motion is detected and then upload it. This way, I don’t have to manually check the camera every time something happens.
  3. SD Card Utilization: My Wyze Cam comes with an SD card, which I’ve been using to store these recordings. It’s been working smoothly, and I love how I can review the videos directly from the Wyze app.

I must admit, setting this up was a bit of a learning curve, especially getting the IFTTT applet just right. But with a bit of trial and error, it all came together. The best part is that I can customize the applet further if I want to add more actions, like sending a notification to my phone or even integrating it with my smart lights.

I’d love to hear from others who have tried similar setups or have any tips to make this even better. Have you integrated your Wyze Cam with IFTTT? What tricks have you discovered? I’m all ears!

Thanks for reading, and happy automating! :rocket:
