Hey everyone!
I’ve been diving into setting up my Wyze cameras and sensors to create a smart home security system, and I’m really excited about the possibilities!
I’m currently working on a project where I want my Wyze cameras to record only when someone enters my apartment, not when I exit. This would save a ton of storage space and make the system more efficient. ![]()
Here’s what I’ve got so far: I have three Wyze Cams, a contact sensor on my front door, and a motion sensor inside near the door. My goal is to trigger recording only when someone enters, which would mean the door opens after the motion sensor is triggered. If I open the door while I’m already inside, the motion sensor would have already detected me, so the recording shouldn’t start. Makes sense, right? ![]()
I’ve been experimenting with the automation rules in the Wyze app, but I’m hitting a bit of a wall. I want the recording to start exactly when the contact sensor is triggered, not a minute before. Does anyone know if this is possible? I’ve read a few forums where people mentioned combining motion and contact sensors, but I’m not quite sure how to set it up precisely. ![]()
Another thing I’m curious about is whether I can adjust the timing so that the recording starts immediately when the contact sensor is activated. The default settings seem to have a delay, which isn’t ideal for my use case. Any tips or tricks would be super helpful! ![]()
I’d also love to hear if anyone has successfully set up something similar or if there are any third-party apps or scripts that can help achieve this level of automation. The possibilities with Wyze cameras are endless, and I’m eager to learn more! ![]()
Thanks in advance for your advice and insights! Let’s make this smart home project a success! ![]()
