Wyze Cam Night Vision Degradation and Firmware Update Challenges

I’ve been using Wyze cameras for a while now, and I must say, they’ve been a great addition to my smart home setup. However, I’ve noticed something concerning with my older Wyze Cam V2 and Wyze Cam Pan models. The night vision quality has been deteriorating over time, which is quite puzzling. While my brand-new Wyze Cam V3 shines brightly in low-light conditions, the older models seem to struggle, making me wonder if this is just a sign of aging or if there’s something I can do to mitigate this issue.

First off, I’d like to share my experience. I’ve had these cameras for about a year or two, and initially, the night vision was crisp and reliable. But now, it’s barely functional, and the images are quite grainy. I’ve updated the firmware to the latest version available through the Wyze app, but it hasn’t made a noticeable difference. I’m curious if others have faced similar issues and if there’s a workaround or a fix that I’m missing.

Another challenge I’ve encountered is updating the firmware via a MicroSD card. I’ve tried several methods, including using different firmware versions and cards, but none have worked. It’s frustrating because I’d prefer not to rely solely on the Wyze app for updates, especially if I’m concerned about bandwidth usage. I’ve heard about the RTSP firmware, but the instructions I found were unclear, and I’m hesitant to proceed without more guidance.

I’d love to hear from the community—have you experienced similar issues with night vision degradation? How have you handled firmware updates for your Wyze cameras? Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated. Let’s keep the conversation positive and focused on finding solutions together!
