I recently installed the Wyze Cam OG Telephoto on my long driveway, and while it’s been fantastic during daylight hours, I noticed some issues at night. The headlights from cars would completely wash out the camera feed, making it impossible to detect vehicles until they were almost at my front door. This was frustrating because it defeats the purpose of having a security camera on the driveway in the first place.
After some experimentation, I found that adjusting the camera angle slightly helped reduce the glare. I also discovered that enabling the night vision mode and tweaking the exposure settings made a big difference. While it’s not perfect, it’s now reliable enough to notify me when vehicles are about 50 feet away from my house.
Another issue I faced was with the Wyze Cam Portal. The web interface kept freezing and dropping frames, especially when motion was detected. I had to constantly reconnect to view the cameras. I reached out to Wyze support, and they mentioned they’re aware of the issue and are working on a fix. In the meantime, using the mobile app has been much more stable.
Overall, I’m still happy with my purchase because the camera performs well during the day and has decent night vision with some adjustments. I just wish the web interface was as reliable as the mobile app. If you’re considering this camera for a long driveway, I’d recommend testing the night vision settings thoroughly before fully committing.
