Wyze Cam Only for Live Video

Hey everyone, I just wanted to share my experience with the Wyze Cam I recently purchased. It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster, but I’ve managed to work through most of the issues. Let me walk you through it!

First off, I was really excited to get this little camera for my home. It’s compact, affordable, and promised some great features. However, as soon as I set it up, I noticed something wasn’t quite right. The live video feed worked perfectly, but when I tried to access the recorded footage, it just wouldn’t load. The camera has a 32GB SD card, so I knew it was recording, but accessing those recordings was another story.

I spent hours troubleshootin g—checking the network settings, restarting the camera, even resetting it to factory settings. Nothing seemed to work. The error messages were frustrating: ‘Network timed out’ or ‘Camera not connected.’ I was starting to think I might have gotten a dud unit.

Then, I decided to dig deeper. I read through some forums and discovered that others were having similar issues. It turns out the problem isn’t uncommon, especially with the Wyze Cam’s firmware. After some research, I found a few solutions that worked for me:

  1. Update the Firmware: Make sure your camera is running the latest firmware. This fixed a lot of the connectivity issues for me.
  2. Adjust Network Settings: I moved the camera to a different Wi-Fi band and set it to a static IP address. This helped with the network stability.
  3. Optimize Camera Placement: I realized the camera was placed in a spot with a lot of interference. Moving it to a more central location improved the connection.

After implementing these changes, the camera started working much better. While it’s still not perfect, I can now access the recorded footage without too much trouble. I’m really glad I didn’t give up on it!

If anyone else is struggling with their Wyze Cam, I’d recommend trying these steps. Let me know if you have any questions or if there’s something I missed. Happy smart home hacking! :rocket:
