Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with installing the Wyze Cam Outdoor. It’s been a bit of a journey, but I’ve learned a lot along the way! 
Installation Experience
I recently installed a Wyze Cam Outdoor to monitor my backyard. The setup process was pretty straightforward—just plug it in, connect it to my Wi-Fi, and it was up and running. The video quality is amazing, and I love how it integrates with my existing smart home ecosystem. However, there was a hiccup when I tried to upgrade the firmware. The update failed, and the camera wouldn’t connect afterward. I restarted it several times, but the issue persisted. 
Troubleshooting Tips
After some research, I found that others have had similar issues. Here are a few tips that worked for me:
- Force Stop the App: Sometimes, simply force stopping the Wyze app and reopening it can resolve connection issues.
- Check Network Settings: Ensure the camera is on the same network as your phone and that there are no connectivity issues.
- Restart the Camera: A hard reboot can sometimes fix software glitches.
- Battery Check: If the camera is solar-powered, make sure the battery is charging properly. I noticed mine wasn’t holding a charge, so I had to adjust its placement for better sunlight.
Comparing Wyze and Ring
I’ve also been considering switching to Ring cameras since I already have a Ring alarm system. The integration between Ring devices is seamless, which is a huge plus. However, I’m still a fan of Wyze for their affordable prices and features like extended recording with an SD card. If Wyze can improve their firmware stability, I’d definitely stick with them. 
Future Plans
I’m planning to install another Wyze Cam Outdoor in a different part of my yard. This time, I’ll make sure to test the firmware update on my phone before completing the setup. Fingers crossed it goes smoothly!
