I recently noticed that my Wyze Cam Outdoor v2 battery dropped to 18%, and the status light turned solid red even after charging it overnight. This was puzzling because the camera had been working perfectly before. After some research and trial and error, here’s what I discovered:
-
Firmware Update: Ensure both the camera and base station are updated to the latest firmware. I updated mine to firmware 4.48.4.278, and it made a significant difference in stability.
-
Network Configuration: The Wyze app was connecting but not updating the image. I realized the camera was trying to communicate on ports 21047 (TCP), 10001 (UDP), and 10240 (UDP). Make sure these ports are open in your firewall settings for optimal performance.
-
Resetting the Camera: If the camera freezes, unplug the base station for 15 seconds and replug it. This reset the connection, and the camera started responding again.
-
Battery Calibration: If the battery level seems off, try draining the battery completely and then charging it fully. This helps recalibrate the battery gauge.
-
Alternative Charging: If the charging station isn’t working, try charging the camera directly using the included USB cable.
-
Firmware Lock: If the camera seems stuck, ensure it’s not in a firmware update loop. Unplug it, wait a few minutes, and plug it back in.
-
Contact Support: If none of the above works, reach out to Wyze support. They’ve been helpful in resolving similar issues for other users.
After applying these steps, my Wyze Cam Outdoor v2 is back to working perfectly. It’s a fantastic device for outdoor surveillance, and with a little troubleshooting, it can be as reliable as any other smart camera out there. ![]()
