Hey everyone! I wanted to share an interesting use case for the Wyze Cam V2 that I recently discovered. I’ve been using it as a backup camera for hitching my 1-ton van to trailers, and it’s been a game-changer for me! ![]()

Here’s how I set it up:
- Turn off Wi-Fi on your phone - This might seem counterintuitive, but it’s essential for the next step.
- Enable mobile hotspot - This creates a temporary connection between your phone and the camera.
- Open the Wyze app - The camera should connect automatically to your phone’s hotspot.
I mounted the Wyze Cam on the rear doors, right above the hitch, and rotated the image 180 degrees. This way, the video shows the hitch ball location as it approaches the trailer. It works just as well as my old setup, without the hassle! ![]()
This solution has saved me a lot of time and frustration. If anyone else is looking for a reliable, budget-friendly backup camera option, I highly recommend giving this a try! ![]()
Let me know if you’ve found creative uses for your Wyze Cam or if you have tips to share. Happy hitching! ![]()
