I’ve been experiencing a frustrating issue with my Wyze Cam V2 where it continuously detects motion even when there’s nothing moving in the frame. Initially, it was slightly annoying, but it progressively got worse to the point where it was recording constantly, regardless of whether the mask was on or off. This was particularly problematic because it made monitoring my property effectively impossible, as the camera was generating alerts non-stop.
After trying various troubleshooting steps suggested by Wyze support, including resetting the camera and updating the firmware, I decided to take a different approach. I noticed that the camera was equipped with AI-based motion detection features like person and vehicle detection. I wondered if disabling these might help stabilize the motion detection.
Here’s what I did: I went into the Wyze app settings and turned off all AI-related motion detection features, including person, vehicle, pet, and package detection. To my relief, this immediately resolved the issue. The camera now only triggers motion alerts when there’s actual movement, and it’s much more reliable.
While it’s unfortunate that the advanced AI features aren’t working as intended, I’m happy to have a functioning camera again. If you’re experiencing similar issues, I highly recommend trying this solution. It’s a simple fix that can make a big difference in how your camera performs.
I’m now able to monitor my property effectively without the constant false alerts, and I’m hopeful that Wyze will address the AI detection issues in future updates. In the meantime, this workaround has been a lifesaver for me.
