I’ve been a long-time fan of Wyze products, ever since the V2 came out. It’s been a staple in my home security setup, and I’ve always recommended it to friends and family. However, recent events have made me question that loyalty. Let me share my story.
A few weeks ago, my car was stolen right from my driveway. The Wyze Cam V2 I had installed recorded me starting the car and coming back inside, but it didn’t capture anything after that—despite having Cam Plus subscription. The camera didn’t react when my entire vehicle began to move, which is baffling considering how sensitive it usually is to even the slightest movement. It started recording again only after the theft, which was absolutely frustrating.
Luckily, we recovered the car within a few hours, but the letdown was real. I’ve relied on this camera for over two years, and it’s always been dependable—until now. This incident made me realize how crucial it is to have reliable security equipment, especially in unpredictable situations.
I’ve since upgraded to the Wyze Cam V3, hoping it will be more consistent. The V3’s weather resistance is a big plus, given that I live in Chicago. I’m optimistic that this new version will deliver on its promises and capture everything it’s supposed to. I truly believe in giving products a second chance, and I’m hopeful that Wyze will continue to improve their offerings.
To anyone considering Wyze products, my advice is to weigh your priorities carefully. While their devices are generally affordable and user-friendly, reliability can sometimes be hit or miss. I’m still a fan, but I’m also more cautious now. Let’s hope the V3 doesn’t let me down this time!
