Wyze Cam V3 Firmware Update and Motion Detection Tips

I recently updated my Wyze Cam V3 to the latest firmware version 2.0.944, and I must say, the improvements are quite noticeable! The image quality has definitely gotten better, and the motion detection logic inside the Detection Zone is now much more reliable. I was having trouble with false alarms before, but this update seems to have addressed that issue significantly. The sunset and sunrise calculation bug was also fixed, which means my camera now schedules its night vision mode more accurately. This is a huge plus for anyone using the camera for outdoor monitoring.

However, I did come across a minor issue. I tried setting up a time lapse with a 24-hour interval, but I kept getting an error message saying, ‘The time lapse should be more than 1080 hours.’ It turns out this is a limitation on the minimum duration for time lapse recordings. If I set the interval to something shorter, like 15 hours, it works fine. I’m not entirely sure why there’s this 30-day limit, but I guess it’s a safeguard to prevent overly long recordings.

On another note, I’ve been experimenting with the Person & Vehicle Tagging feature in the Wyze app. It’s pretty cool to see the camera differentiate between people and vehicles in the live feed. But I noticed that enabling this feature requires a firmware upgrade, even though my camera was already on the latest version. I’m curious if this feature is tied to RTSP or if it’s accessible to everyone. I’ll have to look into that more.

Overall, the Wyze Cam V3 is a fantastic device, and the regular firmware updates keep improving its functionality. I’m excited to see what features they’ll add next! If anyone has tips or tricks for getting the most out of their Wyze cameras, I’d love to hear them.
