I’ve been using the Wyze Cam v3 outdoor camera for a few months now, and while it has some great features, I’ve encountered a few issues that might be helpful for others to know about. First, the advertised IP65 rating hasn’t held up in my experience. After a few rainy days, the lens started fogging up from the inside, and it took days for the image to clear. I’ve had to replace the camera twice now due to this issue, which is pretty frustrating.
Another concern is the camplus subscription service. Even though I’ve paid for a membership, I’m still only getting 12-second video clips on all my cameras. I’ve reached out to technical support multiple times, and they’ve suggested everything from firmware updates to RTSP configurations, but nothing has worked. It’s been over a year since this issue started, and I’m still waiting for a fix. I feel like the developers aren’t addressing this problem seriously.
Despite these issues, the Wyze Cam v3 does have some great features, like excellent video quality and reliable motion detection. I’ve also found that placing the camera in a covered area helps reduce moisture buildup. If you’re considering this camera, I’d recommend keeping it under an overhang or using a weather cover to extend its lifespan.
Overall, while the Wyze Cam v3 is a solid choice for outdoor surveillance, be prepared for some potential hiccups with the subscription service and weather resistance. I’m still hoping for a resolution from Wyze, but in the meantime, I’m making do with what I have. If anyone has any tips or experiences to share, I’d love to hear them!
