Wyze Cam V3 Pet Detection and Recording Issues

Hi everyone, I’ve been using Wyze cameras for quite some time now, and I must say, they’ve been a great addition to my home security setup. However, recently I’ve encountered some issues with my Wyze Cam V3 units that I’d like to share and hopefully get some insights on.

First, let me talk about the pet detection feature. I’ve had my V3 cameras for over a year, and they’ve been reliably detecting pets, even from a distance of up to 20 feet. However, since the last system update, this feature has been hit or miss. Out of about 15-20 recordings where pets are present, the camera has only tagged “Pet” once. This is concerning because I rely on this feature to alert me of any coyotes that might wander near my property. The detection used to be almost 95% accurate, but now it’s practically non-existent. I’ve tried adjusting the sensitivity settings, but that hasn’t made a difference. I’m wondering if others are experiencing the same issue or if there’s a known fix for this.

Another issue I’ve been facing is with the camera’s recording functionality. Since the last firmware update, I’ve noticed that motion is often not recorded at all. Even when there’s clear activity in front of the camera, the footage is either missing or the motion isn’t detected. This is especially frustrating because I’ve had these cameras working perfectly fine for months. I’ve tried resetting the cameras, updating the firmware again, and even reinstalling the Wyze app, but the problem persists. I’m starting to think it might be a server-side issue or perhaps something related to the firmware update itself.

On a slightly more positive note, I’ve found that the cameras still work well when I manually trigger the live view or record a video. The issue seems to be isolated to the automatic motion detection and recording features. I’m hoping that Wyze is aware of these issues and is working on a resolution. In the meantime, I’m considering supplementing my setup with other cameras that offer better reliability, especially for pet and motion detection.

If anyone else has encountered similar problems or has found a workaround, I’d love to hear about your experiences. It’s always reassuring to know that others are going through the same thing and that there might be a solution out there. Thanks for reading, and I look forward to hearing from you all!
