Wyze Camera Bird Detection and Event Tagging

Hey Wyze community, I wanted to share my recent experience with the Wyze camera and some thoughts on how it could be improved. I’ve been using Wyze cameras for a while now, and they’ve been a great addition to my home security setup. However, I’ve noticed something that could use a bit of tweaking.

I have a Wyze camera installed outside my house, and while it’s excellent at detecting motion, it often mistakes birds for people. We have a lot of birds in our area, and it’s not uncommon for the camera to send alerts saying a person is detected when it’s actually just a blackbird or a sparrow. This can be a bit frustrating, especially when you’re trying to monitor the area for actual activity.

Another thing I’ve been thinking about is the event tagging feature. I’ve noticed that there are currently no tags for weather-related events like rain or snowflakes. This could be really useful for filtering out false positives caused by weather conditions. For example, if the camera detected rain, it could automatically tag the event as weather-related, making it easier to ignore those alerts.

I’d love to hear from others who have similar experiences or thoughts on how Wyze could improve their detection algorithms. Maybe in a future update, we could see better bird detection or even weather-related event tagging. Either way, I’m really happy with the Wyze cameras overall, and I’m excited to see how they continue to evolve.
