Wyze Camera Delay Troubleshooting and Solutions

Hey everyone, I’ve been having an interesting issue with my Wyze camera setup, and I wanted to share my experience and what I’ve learned so far. Hopefully, this can help others who might be facing similar challenges!

So, the issue is about camera latency. My Wyze camera is set up to monitor my car, and while the video quality is decent, there’s a noticeable delay—about 5 seconds—between when something happens in front of the camera and when it shows up on my tablet. I use a Galaxy Tab A, and I’ve tried switching routers to see if that helps, but the problem persists. It’s a bit frustrating because I was hoping to use the live feed to help with parking, but the delay makes it impractical.

I’ve done a bit of research and reached out to the Wyze community, and here’s what I’ve discovered so far:

  1. Camera Settings: I checked if there are any settings related to video streaming or buffering that might be causing the delay. Unfortunately, I didn’t find any adjustments that directly address this issue.

  2. Network Configuration: Since the camera is only 10 feet away from my router, I don’t think distance is the main culprit. However, I’ve considered the possibility of network congestion. Maybe other devices on my network are hogging bandwidth? I plan to test this by temporarily disconnecting other devices to see if it improves the latency.

  3. Firmware and Software Updates: I made sure my camera firmware and the Wyze app are both up to date. Sometimes, updates can resolve underlying issues that cause delays.

  4. Alternative Solutions: While I wait for a potential fix, I’ve explored some workaround ideas. For example, using motion sensors alongside the camera to trigger alerts or notifications might help mitigate the delay issue.

  5. Community Feedback: I’ve noticed that a few others in the community have mentioned similar latency issues, especially with outdoor setups. It seems like this might be a known problem, but I’m hopeful that Wyze is working on a solution.

If anyone has experienced something similar or has any tips or tricks to reduce latency, I’d love to hear about them! Let’s keep the discussion going and help each other troubleshoot this.

Thanks for reading, and happy automating! :rocket:
