Wyze Camera Flashlight Detection & High Alert Setup

I’ve been really impressed with how Wyze cameras handle motion detection, especially during nighttime. Recently, I came across a feature request regarding flashlight detection, which I think is a brilliant idea! Imagine being alerted instantly when someone shines a flashlight near your camera—it would be a game-changer for security.

I decided to test this idea using my Wyze Cam V3. While the official app doesn’t have this feature yet, I found a workaround by adjusting the motion sensitivity settings. Here’s what I did:

  1. Increased Motion Sensitivity: I boosted the motion sensitivity to maximum. This helped the camera detect even the slightest light fluctuations.
  2. Custom Alerts: I set up custom alerts in the Wyze app to notify me immediately when motion is detected. This ensures I don’t miss any suspicious activity.
  3. Recording Settings: I adjusted the recording duration to capture longer clips when motion is detected. This gives me a clearer picture of what’s happening.

So far, this setup has been pretty effective. I’ve had a few false positives, but nothing too bothersome. If Wyze were to implement dedicated flashlight detection, it would take this feature to the next level!

Has anyone else experimented with similar setups? I’d love to hear your experiences and any tips you might have. Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other improve our home security setups! :rocket:
