Wyze Camera Motion Recording Tips and Tricks

I’ve been really enjoying my Wyze cameras for home security, but I was initially frustrated with the limited recording options. All I was getting were still images and short clips, which wasn’t helpful during a recent break-in attempt. After some research and experimentation, I finally figured out how to get continuous motion-activated video recording working reliably across all my cameras. Here’s what I learned:

Key Settings to Adjust:

  • Motion Sensitivity: Play around with this to avoid false triggers while still catching real activity
  • Recording Duration: Set this to the maximum for longer clips
  • Smart Motion Detection: Enable this for more accurate detection
  • Cloud Storage Plan: Invest in a monthly or annual plan for continuous recording

Tips for Better Coverage:

  • Position cameras strategically to cover entry points
  • Use motion-activated flood lights in conjunction
  • Test different mounting angles
  • Regularly check camera placement and angles

After making these adjustments, my cameras now provide much more useful footage. I still keep the still images enabled as a backup, but the full video clips are a huge improvement. Definitely worth the time to tweak these settings!

Would love to hear if others have found additional tips or tricks for getting the most out of Wyze cameras. Safety is a top priority, and every little improvement helps give peace of mind.
