I recently tried setting up a new Wyze camera in my home, but I’m running into some connectivity issues. Let me share my experience and see if anyone else has encountered this or can offer some advice.
So, I installed the latest Wyze app on my Windows 11 desktop using BlueStacks 5. My desktop is connected to an Asus router via CAT-5e Ethernet, and the 2.4 GHz WiFi is enabled. Other devices like my phone and smart plugs connect without any issues. However, when I try to add the Wyze camera through the app, the ‘Select Network’ screen comes up blank, and there’s no list of available networks. The green progress bar only fills up about a quarter of the way, and the process stops there.
I’ve tried this with both the wired Wyze Cam Ver 2 and Ver 3, as well as a Wyze smart plug, but all of them result in the same blank screen. I even installed an older 64-bit version of the Wyze app on BlueStacks, but the issue persists. I’ve searched online for solutions, but nothing seems to work so far.
This is frustrating because I know the devices were working fine with an older 32-bit Wyze app on a tablet. I’m wondering if there’s a specific setting or workaround that I’m missing. Maybe someone else has dealt with this and can shed some light. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
- Resetting the router
- Checking for firmware updates on the router
- Uninstalling and reinstalling the Wyze app
- Testing on a different Windows 11 laptop with the same result
If anyone has successfully connected Wyze devices through BlueStacks on a Windows machine, I’d love to hear your setup details. Thanks in advance for any help!
