Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with the Wyze camera SD card playback issue, as I’ve been dealing with it for a while now. Hopefully, my journey can help someone else out there!
So, here’s the deal: I’ve been using Wyze cameras for a couple of years now, and they’ve been a lifesaver for keeping an eye on things while I’m away. Recently, I added an SD card to one of my cameras to enable continuous recording. It was working perfectly at first, but then I noticed something strange—when I tried to access the playback through the events tab, it was grayed out. Both my Android and iOS devices were showing the same issue, which was really frustrating.
After some research and reaching out to the community, I discovered that the problem wasn’t isolated to me. Many users were experiencing similar issues with SD card playback. However, there was a silver lining—manually accessing the SD card worked like a charm! I could still view the recordings directly on the card, which was a huge relief.
But wait, there’s more! I found out that while the events tab was unresponsive for some cameras, it was working perfectly fine for others. This inconsistency was puzzling, but it also gave me hope that there might be a solution. I decided to dive deeper and see if I could figure out what was causing the issue.
After some trial and error, I stumbled upon a possible fix. It turns out that the way the SD card is formatted or the specific settings on the camera might play a role in the playback issue. I tried reformatting the SD card and resetting the camera to factory settings, and lo and behold, the events tab started working again! It was like a little victory, and my wife even gave me a high-five, which is rare around here.

If you’re dealing with a similar issue, don’t lose hope! Keep experimenting and reaching out to the community—you never know what little tweak might make everything work again.
In the meantime, I’m still amazed by how Wyze cameras continue to deliver despite these minor hiccups. They’re affordable, reliable, and have a great feature set, which is why I’ll keep using them for years to come.
