Wyze Camera Setup Troubleshooting and Solutions

Hey everyone, I just got my Wyze starter pack and was really excited to get everything set up. However, I ran into a bit of a snag right off the bat with the camera setup. I followed the quick start guide and the setup video exactly, but I kept hitting a wall. The camera would get to the yellow light flashing and the voice prompt saying ‘Ready to connect,’ but the app wouldn’t auto-populate the Wi-Fi SSID. I even tried manually entering the network info, but it just kept repeating ‘Ready to connect’ without moving forward. I was a bit puzzled because I knew my phone was on the Wi-Fi network, and I double-checked that it was a 2.4GHz network. I also made sure there wasn’t a space at the end of the SSID name and that the 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks had different names. Nothing seemed to work!

After some research and reaching out to the community, I found that others had similar issues. It turns out that sometimes the camera might not be fully reset or there could be a glitch in the setup process. I tried doing a factory reset on the camera and also restarted my router to see if that would help. Lo and behold, after a few attempts, the camera finally connected! It was a bit frustrating, but it’s great to have it up and running now.

I thought I’d share my experience in case anyone else runs into the same problem. If you’re having trouble with the Wyze camera setup, here are a few tips:

  1. Factory Reset: Make sure the camera is fully reset. You can usually do this by holding down the power button for about 10 seconds until the light turns red and then green.
  2. Restart Your Router: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.
  3. Check Network Settings: Ensure you’re on the correct Wi-Fi band (2.4GHz for older devices) and that there are no spaces or special characters in your SSID.
  4. Manual Entry: If the app doesn’t auto-populate, try manually entering the network info again.
  5. Patience: If it doesn’t work on the first try, don’t get discouraged. Sometimes it just takes a few attempts.

I’m really happy to have this camera up and running now. It’s been a great addition to my smart home setup, and I’m looking forward to exploring all its features. If anyone has any other tips or experiences to share, I’d love to hear them!
