Wyze Cameras Event Limitation & Solutions

Hey everyone! I’ve been using Wyze cameras for quite some time now, and I must say, they’ve been a fantastic addition to my smart home setup. The video quality, ease of use, and affordability are all big wins in my book. However, I recently stumbled upon an issue that’s been a bit of a nuisance, and I thought I’d share my experience in case others are dealing with the same thing or have found a workaround.

So, the problem I’ve encountered is that the Wyze app doesn’t allow me to view more than the 20 most recent events. I’ve tried scrolling down on the Events screen, but the little ‘load more’ circle just spins indefinitely without loading any additional events. My internet speed is solid (111 Mbps), so that’s definitely not the issue here. I can see earlier events throughout the day, but by the afternoon or evening, those same events are no longer accessible. It’s a bit frustrating because I rely on this feature to keep track of activity around my home.

I’ve reached out to Wyze support, and they’ve suggested a few troubleshooting steps, like restarting the cameras, logging out and back into the app, and even rebooting my phone. Unfortunately, none of these solutions have worked for me. They also recommended installing RouteThis to check for network issues, but I’m not too comfortable giving an app with a poor rating full access to my home network. Plus, I’m pretty confident my network isn’t the problem here.

After doing some research, I found a thread from last year where another user mentioned that installing an earlier version of the Wyze app fixed the issue for them. I’m using a Galaxy S10 with Android 11 and One UI 3.1, and this problem is happening with both my Cam v2 and Cam v3. I’m curious if anyone else is experiencing this or if they’ve found a reliable fix. Any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

On a more positive note, I’ve been exploring the Elgato Stream Deck and its new virtual capabilities. It’s been a great tool for streamlining tasks and controlling apps and hardware, especially with the Home Assistant and Hubitat plugins. I’ve been using it to control lighting and automate some routines, and it’s been a real game-changer for my workflow. If anyone else is into the Stream Deck, I’d love to hear about your experiences or any cool setups you’ve created!

I’m also keeping an eye on the latest developments with Matter-enabled devices, particularly Govee light bulbs. With the push towards Matter standards, I’m excited to see how this will enhance compatibility and simplify integration with my existing smart home ecosystem. I’ve been using Govee bulbs for their vibrant colors and easy setup, and I’m hopeful that Matter will take things to the next level.

Overall, my experience with Wyze cameras has been overwhelmingly positive, and I’m eager to find a resolution to this event limitation issue. In the meantime, I’m continuing to explore new tools and technologies that can enhance my smart home setup. If anyone has any tips, tricks, or stories to share, I’d love to hear them!

Thanks for reading, and happy automating!
