Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience with connecting Wyze devices after switching routers. It was quite the challenge, but I managed to figure it out, so I thought I’d document it in case others run into the same issue.
So, the situation: I recently switched from my ISP-provided router to a TP-Link Archer AX50. I kept all the same Wi-Fi settings, including SSID, password, and encryption type. Most of my devices connected without any problems, but my Wyze devices were having a tough time. The lock gateway worked, but the cameras, smart plugs, and sense hub wouldn’t connect. It was frustrating!
I tried resetting the devices multiple times, following the instructions, but nothing worked. The camera kept saying it couldn’t connect, and the smart plug just showed a connection failed message. I was puzzled because everything else worked fine.
After some research and reaching out to the community, I realized the issue might be with the Wi-Fi channel or some settings on the new router. I decided to change the Wi-Fi channel to a less crowded one and also adjusted some advanced settings on the TP-Link router. Lo and behold, the Wyze devices started connecting!
It turned out that the new router had some default settings that weren’t compatible with Wyze’s protocols. By tweaking the channel and router settings, I managed to get everything up and running smoothly. It was a bit of a learning curve, but now I have a better understanding of how routers and devices interact.
If anyone else is having trouble with Wyze devices after switching routers, I’d recommend checking the Wi-Fi channel and router settings. Sometimes, a simple adjustment can make all the difference. Happy connecting! ![]()
