Wyze Doorbell Motion Detection and porch light integration

Hey everyone! I’ve been experimenting with integrating my Wyze Doorbell and Wyze Switch to automatically turn on my porch light when motion is detected. It’s been a fun project, and I wanted to share my experience in case anyone else is looking to do something similar.

First, I wanted to understand how the Wyze Doorbell detects motion. I read online that it can detect motion up to 16 feet away, even at night. That’s pretty impressive! I set up the doorbell and started testing the motion detection range. At first, I was a bit concerned because it didn’t seem to detect motion as far as I expected, but after adjusting the position slightly, it worked perfectly.

Next, I connected the Wyze Switch to my porch light. The integration process was straightforward using the Wyze app. I created a simple automation rule: when motion is detected by the doorbell, the switch turns on the light. It’s such a small thing, but it makes a big difference in convenience.

One thing I learned is the importance of positioning. I moved the doorbell a few inches to get the best coverage. Now, it reliably detects motion within the expected range, and the light turns on instantly. It’s a great deterrent for potential intruders and adds a nice touch when guests arrive.

I also discovered that the Wyze app allows for some customization, like adjusting the sensitivity of the motion detector. This was helpful because I didn’t want the light to trigger too often from passing cars or animals. Finding the right balance took a bit of tweaking, but it’s well worth it.

Overall, I’m really happy with how this integration turned out. It’s a simple yet effective way to enhance my home’s security and convenience. If you’re thinking about setting something similar up, I’d definitely recommend giving it a try! The setup is user-friendly, and the results are satisfying.

Cheers to smarter homes! :tada:
