I recently purchased the Wyze Lock + keypad for a multi-unit building, and I must say, it’s been a game-changer for managing access. The ability to keep everyone’s codes private is a huge plus, something I didn’t expect from a smart lock. However, there’s one feature that’s been on my mind—allowing shared users to create and manage multiple codes, just like the primary owner can.
Currently, only the primary owner can set up multiple codes, including one-time, temporary, and recurring ones. Shared users are limited to a single ‘permanent’ code. While this works for basic access, it lacks flexibility for scenarios where users might need different codes for guests, deliveries, or temporary access.
Imagine being able to assign a ‘personal’ code for everyday use and a ‘guest’ code for visitors. This would make managing access much easier, especially in shared spaces. I understand the concern about hitting the keypad’s maximum keycode limit, but setting a hardcoded or customizable limit per user, like 10 codes, could solve this.
This feature doesn’t pose a security risk, as having multiple codes doesn’t compromise the lock’s security. Instead, it would enhance usability and make the Wyze Lock even more appealing for shared environments. I hope the Wyze team considers this enhancement—it would truly elevate the product for users like me who rely on it for shared spaces.
Overall, the Wyze Lock is a fantastic product, and with a few tweaks like this, it could become the go-to choice for smart access solutions.
