Wyze Outdoor Cam - SD Card and Cloud Storage Insights

Hi everyone! I’ve been using Wyze cameras for a while now, and I wanted to share my experience regarding the use of SD cards and cloud storage. I recently purchased the Wyze Outdoor Cam and the base station, and I’ve been experimenting with the setup.

First off, I was curious about whether I needed SD cards for each camera or just the base station. After playing around with the app and the camera, I realized that it seems like you don’t need SD cards at all! The camera sends motion detection alerts directly to the app, and the recordings are saved in the Events section. This is super convenient because it means I don’t have to worry about carrying extra SD cards around.

However, I also wanted to explore the cloud storage option. I found out that while the free tier gives you 30 days of cloud storage, upgrading to a paid plan extends this to 30 days of continuous recording. This is great for peace of mind, especially if you want to keep a longer history of your camera footage.

One thing I’d like to mention is the importance of battery maintenance. I’ve had a few sensors disconnect recently, and it turned out to be a battery issue. Wyze’s support team was really helpful and guided me through the process of replacing the batteries. They also mentioned that waiting too long to replace the battery can sometimes make the sensor unusable, even after a new battery is installed. So, I’d recommend keeping an eye on the low battery warnings to avoid any unexpected downtime.

Overall, I’m really happy with how the Wyze Outdoor Cam is performing. It’s user-friendly, and the integration with the app makes it easy to manage everything from one place. If you’re considering getting one, I’d say go for it! Just remember to keep those batteries fresh.
