Wyze Outdoor Plug Troubleshooting and Firmware Update Issues

Hi all, I’m reaching out to seek some help with an issue I’m experiencing with my Wyze Outdoor Plug. I’ve been a fan of Wyze devices for their affordability and functionality, but this particular problem has me a bit puzzled. A few weeks ago, I decided to dust off my Wyze Outdoor Plug, which I had purchased last Christmas but hadn’t used since. It had been sitting on my shelf, untouched, until I thought it would be perfect for controlling some lights on my back porch. Little did I know, this decision would lead me down a rabbit hole of troubleshooting.

When I plugged it in, I was immediately met with the issue that the device wasn’t coming online. The blue light blinked for a few seconds and then went steady, but the Wyze app didn’t recognize it. I tried deleting the device and re-adding it, but to no avail. The app would show a smooth addition process, but the device never appeared in my list. This was frustrating, especially since I had no issues when I first set it up last year.

I did some digging in the Wyze support section and came across a note stating that the Outdoor Plug is considered Final Sale, meaning it’s not eligible for returns or replacements. This added a layer of anxiety, as I didn’t want to invest in a new one if there was a fix I could try.

After some research, I found that others had similar issues, often related to firmware updates. It seems that the plug’s firmware might have caused some instability, especially after an update.
