Wyze Pan Cam V2: Resolving Frequent Offline Issues

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with the Wyze Pan Cam V2 and how I managed to resolve its frequent offline issues. I’ve been using this camera for a couple of months now, and it was working perfectly until recently when it started freezing and requiring a power cycle to come back online. The blue light in front would flash really fast, and I couldn’t see the feed or record anything to the cloud. It was quite frustrating, especially since I rely on it for monitoring my home.

I started by checking the camera’s settings and ensuring everything was up to date. I tried resetting the camera multiple times, swapping out different SD cards, and even reinstalling the Wyze app. Nothing seemed to work consistently. The camera would come back online after a power cycle, but the issue would recur after a day or two.

After some research, I came across a few forums where others had similar issues. One common suggestion was to check the camera’s firmware. I updated the firmware through the Wyze app, and while it didn’t fix the problem immediately, it was a crucial step. I also reached out to Wyze support, but unfortunately, their automated responses weren’t very helpful.

Here’s what finally worked for me: I noticed that the issue often occurred after the camera had been active for an extended period. I decided to implement a scheduled power cycle using a smart plug. I set it to reboot the camera every 48 hours. This has significantly reduced the frequency of the offline issues. The camera now stays online for much longer periods, and when it does go offline, the scheduled reboot brings it back without any manual intervention.

Another tip I found useful was monitoring the camera’s network connection. I ensured that the camera was always connected to a stable Wi-Fi network and moved it closer to the router to minimize signal interference. This, combined with the scheduled reboot, has made a world of difference.

I’d like to hear from others who might have faced similar issues. Have you found any effective solutions or workarounds? I’m still looking for ways to prevent the camera from freezing altogether, but for now, the scheduled reboot has been a lifesaver.

Stay safe and keep those cameras rolling! :rocket:
