Wyze Pan Cam V3 Privacy Mode Issue and Solution

I’ve been using the Wyze Pan Cam V3 for quite some time now, and it’s been a reliable addition to my smart home setup. However, recently I noticed an issue that’s been a bit of a nuisance. After the latest firmware update, my camera started behaving oddly when in privacy mode. Instead of returning to its home position (which I’ll call 0 degrees), it would often end up off-center, sometimes as much as 45 degrees or even 90 degrees away. This was unexpected and a bit concerning, especially since the camera has always been consistent before this update.

I decided to dig into the problem a bit more. After some experimentation, I found that resetting the camera via the Wyze app seemed to fix the issue temporarily. Upon resetting, the camera would correctly return to its 0-degree home position and function as intended. However, the problem would resurface after some time, which was frustrating.

I reached out to the Wyze community to see if others were experiencing the same issue. It turns out I’m not alone. Several users have reported similar problems, suggesting that there might be a bug in the firmware update. While Wyze hasn’t officially addressed this yet, the community has been sharing workarounds and insights.

One thing I noticed is that the camera’s ability to maintain its position seems to be affected by how it’s mounted. Ensuring the camera is securely fastened and not wobbling might help prevent it from drifting off-center. Additionally, keeping the firmware updated, despite the current issue, is still a good practice for overall performance.

I’m hopeful that Wyze will release a firmware update to resolve this bug. In the meantime, I’ve been using the reset function as a temporary fix. If anyone else has encountered this issue or has additional insights, I’d love to hear your experiences and solutions!
