I wanted to share my experience with installing the Wyze Sense Mailbox sensor on my metal mailbox. Initially, I faced some challenges with unreliable notifications due to the mailbox’s metal enclosure and the magnet holding the door closed. After some research and experimentation, I found a great solution inspired by another user’s idea: replacing the magnetic contact with a microswitch. This fix has been working exceptionally well, even at a distance of over 50 feet from my camera and bridge. The notifications are consistent when the mailbox is opened, and while there are occasional issues with the door reporting as closed, it doesn’t affect the overall functionality. I used command strips for easy removal, which was a practical choice for temporary installation. I’m really happy with how this setup has improved my mailbox monitoring, and I wanted to share my success in case others are looking for a similar solution.
